Terms of Use
These terms cover the truefwdlabs.com website and the applications published by TrueFWD Labs LLC. Using either means you accept them.
1. The apps
Our applications are distributed through Apple's App Store. Unless an app presents its own licence agreement, your use of it is governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, together with these terms. Where the two conflict on a point Apple's agreement addresses, Apple's agreement governs.
We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use our apps on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms. You may not reverse-engineer, redistribute, resell, or attempt to extract source code from our apps except to the extent that restriction is unenforceable where you live.
2. Not medical advice
Ruffly and any other health-adjacent app we publish are informational tools for recording what you choose to record. They are not medical devices, they do not diagnose, treat, or prevent anything, and the figures they display are estimates based on what you enter.
Nothing in our apps is medical, nutritional, or clinical advice. Do not use them as a substitute for a qualified professional, and consult one before making significant changes to your diet — particularly if you are pregnant, under 18, managing a medical condition, or have a history of disordered eating. You are responsible for decisions you make using information from our apps.
3. Purchases and refunds
In-app purchases are sold and processed by Apple, and are subject to the App Store's terms. A purchase that removes advertising is a one-time, non-consumable unlock tied to your Apple Account and restorable via Restore Purchases.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, at reportaproblem.apple.com. We are not able to issue App Store refunds directly, though we are happy to help you work out whether one is warranted.
4. Advertising
Some apps are free and supported by advertising, with a purchase available to remove it. Advertisements are supplied by a third-party advertising provider; we do not author them and do not endorse the products they promote. How advertising affects your data is set out in section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
5. Your content
Whatever you record in our apps remains yours. We claim no ownership of it, and in the apps we publish today it stays on your device, so we hold no copy of it. Keeping your own backups — through iCloud or an encrypted device backup — is your responsibility, and we cannot restore data we never received.
6. Acceptable use
Please do not use our apps or this website to break the law, to interfere with their normal operation, to probe or attack the systems that serve them, or to scrape them at a volume that degrades service for others. Security research conducted in good faith is welcome — email us first.
7. Availability and changes
We may update, change, or discontinue an app or any of its features. We aim to give reasonable notice of anything that removes functionality you rely on, via release notes. Apps are provided as they are at the time you download them; continued availability on the App Store is ultimately Apple's decision, not ours.
8. Intellectual property
The TrueFWD Labs name, our logo, app names, app icons, and the design and content of this website are owned by TrueFWD Labs LLC. You may reference them for commentary, review, or news reporting; you may not use them to suggest an endorsement or affiliation that does not exist.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Our apps and this website are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the extent the law allows, TrueFWD Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of our apps or website. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim — which, for a free app, is zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Governing law
TrueFWD Labs LLC is organised in the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States. These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory local consumer protections, those protections still apply to you regardless of this clause.
11. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms; the effective date at the top will change when we do. Continuing to use our apps or website after a revision means you accept the updated version.
